I bought this 2 years ago at Target for $35. for my grandsons (4-6). It has afforded them and their 12 yr. old sister many hilarious, squealing, laughing hours of tumbling fun. It is true that the clear sections developed leaks at the seams after 18 mos. of use, and eventually half of the sections developed leaks after 2 years of indoor use. They never tired of it and for $35. it was a wonderful toy. Many creative and imaginative plots were hatched using the giga ball. I am back for another but am disappointed to see that the price is so much higher and that the design flaws still exist. I do not believe it would last very long outside --however, (if you have the room) INSIDE it is still a wonderful toy for this age group.

i almost wonder if the people who say this isn't worth a crap and pops immediately aren't using it on concrete. on grass, we played with it from may to november and it's held up great. we have 4 boys, ranging in weight from 35-55 lbs. they're not gentle. neither are their friends. this thing had kids in it all day every day,up to 3 at a time, even - because i'm all about the safety! - and the occasional adult or two (the only reason "giant inflatable hamster ball" doesn't have its own entry in the kama sutra is that vinyl hadn't been invented yet. i'm not sayin... i'm just sayin.) i was reasonably careful to leave it in the shade during the day, bring it in at night, and no leaks yet; it still looks new. i'll repair it til it can't take anymore, and then buy another one; i expect it to last at least another couple of years. with a foot pump - just any cheap-o plastic one, like the kind that comes free with an air mattress - it takes maybe 20 minutes to inflate all 20 or so pockets. nice design, really, so if you want to bring it indoors at night (like i usually did) you can partially deflate maybe a third of the chambers, squeeze the sucker through a standard doorway, and take 10 minutes to reinflate them the next day.

We gave in and bought the giga ball for our family reunion despite the bad reviews. We were no exception though, it didn't even last throughout the day before some of the chambers popped. The kids really liked it while it lasted, but I do not think it was worth $50. Take your money and go to an amusement park instead...lots more fun!

I got this for my kids about two years ago. I take it out on rainy days when they are going out of their minds cooped indoors. I have yet to take this outdoors because then it would get so dirty I couldn't bring it back indoors and also because I think the sprinkler heads might pop it.
The kids were about 2 and 5 when I first got it. They loved it then and they love it now. It's more fun when more kids are over. They jump in and out of it, push it around, and put blankets inside to make it into a clubhouse. So far, knock wood, no one has gotten hurt.
The kids are pretty rough with it. It's lasted this long, I think I've gotten my money's worth. This year, it's developed a slow leak somewhere, so I think it's on its last legs.
It takes a long time to blow this up. You'll need a machine. One valve inflates two yellow chambers. The clear chambers have their own valves. At first, I didn't know how the valves and chambers worked, but the yellow chambers share air with a neighbor through a small hole. When you blow up one, you blow up the other. If the hole is blocked, you need to squeeze it to let the air through or else you only inflate one chamber. When that happens, the chamber you inflate will slowly lose air to its neighbor and you have to pump in more air. Just takes more time to do it that way ;and it may be frustrating the first time, when you think you've inflated a chamber and later see that it's flat.
This is one of those things you blow up and leave there for a week, because it's as much of a pain to deflate as to inflate, if not more.
The kids roll around a little in it. It doesn't roll as easily as a ball because the sides are not hard plastic. The kids don't mind. Be careful that they don't try jumping on the outside while someone is on the inside. It could suffocate the kid inside.

UPDATE: This ball comes in both red and yellow. It also comes in the 51 and 81 inch size. I found the 51 inch size to be adequate for younger kids. That's what we bought (in yellow). We had four preschool kids inside of it at one time.
